About her art
Born between two vastly different cultures, Doumorh’s work is deeply rooted in the question of identity and coexistence. Growing up between Lebanon and Germany, she faced the challenge of honoring both cultural influences while staying true to herself. This tension—the question of whether bridges must be built or if opposites can simply coexist— shapes her artistic exploration.
In her work, she translates this inner dialogue into the relationship between the physical and digital world. Her art navigates the space between material and immaterial, tangible and virtual, questioning whether these realms must merge or if they can exist side by side while still allowing for authentic self-expression. This fluid state between opposites, where meaning is continuously renegotiated, reflects what Homi Bhabha describes as a “third space”—a realm in which identity is not fixed but emerges through interaction and hybridity.
At the heart of her practice is the transformation of AI-generated content into tactile, sensory experiences. She uses AI-generated text and imagery as a foundation— expressions of her thoughts and emotions—which she then meticulously reinterprets by hand. By incorporating materials like wool and carpet-like textures, she adds depth and tactility to digital structures, making them physically present.
Mirrors play a crucial role in her compositions. Acting as reflective surfaces, they merge the viewer’s physical reality with virtual elements. Through colored mirrors and subtle light effects, Doumorh creates immersive environments where light, material, and perception interact dynamically. These elements shift the viewer’s gaze, altering the perception of space and evoking new dimensions.
The fusion of light, material, and reflection imbues her work with an ephemeral, almost poetic quality. The surrounding space becomes an essential part of the artwork, inviting an ever-changing, participatory experience. Blurring the line between technology, craftsmanship, and perception, Doumorh creates immersive spaces where reality and illusion seamlessly merge.
